MY CHRISTIAN TESTIMONY

Many people call themselves a "Christian".  However I know without doubt that I am one.

I was born into a Christian family and am the eldest of three children.  BUT THIS ISN'T WHAT MAKES ME A CHRISTIAN.

My parents brought us all up to go to Church, and even though we are now all adults, we still continue to attend regularly.  BUT THIS ISN'T WHAT MAKES ME A CHRISTIAN.

I was baptized by immersion the Christmas that I was 14.  BUT THIS ISN'T WHAT MAKES ME A CHRISTIAN.

I read The Bible every day.  BUT THIS ISN'T WHAT MAKES ME A CHRISTIAN.

I try to keep The 10 Commandments.  BUT THIS ISN'T WHAT MAKES ME A CHRISTIAN.

I became a Christian when, at a very young age I asked God to forgive me for all the wrongs things I had done.  I re-confirmed that faith as a teenager, when I thanked The Lord Jesus Christ for dying for me on The Cross at Calvary, and realizing that He rose again on the third day and now lives Eternally in Heaven with His Father.  However in asking for God's forgiveness, through His Son's death, I received the gift of The Holy Spirit, who lives within me, cares for me and loves me.

There are many poems and hymns that sum up these thoughts - and here is one of my favorites:-

My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine;
For Thee all the follies of sin I resign.
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I love Thee because Thou has first loved me,
And purchased my pardon on
Calvary
’s tree.
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death,
And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

In mansions of glory and endless delight,
I’ll ever adore Thee in heaven so bright;
I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

So, now you can see why I use the term ETERNAL REFUGE - I know I already have God with me - and will have for all Eternity.  He is my personal refuge as He loves and cares for Eternally.

If you want to ask me anything then please do.
